Benchmark pioneered a way to dry peanuts mechanically in the mid-50's. Until then peanuts were dried in the fields and the farmers were at the mercy of the weather.

Grain storage bins were adapted to store peanuts and sold both the idea and the equipment to producers in North Carolina and Virginia.
